Deep Twilight Forest

As you push on farther into the forest, the trees overhead begin to cut out the sunlight, until you are left walking through the pitch black, stumbling over roots and holes in the ground, barely able to see a few feet ahead. By now the forest has become deathly silent, not even the wind can penetrate the thick layer of trees, leaving the air still and quiet, interrupted only occasionally by the crack of a stick nearby or the rustling of a bush. You are sure you keep seeing dark shadows scampering around you, but you try to convince yourself it is only your imagination...
